Privacy notice

The short version

  • We don't use cookies.
  • We don't ask for your name, email or phone number, and there is no contact form.
  • We don't store your IP address or any street address you type into a tool.
  • We record anonymous events about how the tools are used, to improve them, and keep them for 24 months.

Page analytics

We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare describes as not using cookies or tracking individual visitors across sites. See Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Tool event log

When you use a tool, your browser sends small event messages to our server. Each one contains a timestamp, a random session ID, the page, the page group, the event name and the details below. The session ID is a random string stored in your browser's sessionStorage for that tab; it disappears when you close the tab and is not linked to you.

Our server drops your IP address before saving the event. It keeps only the coarse country and region that Cloudflare attaches to each request.

Address lookups

If you search for an address to find a building footprint or permit, the address is sent to our lookup service in the body of a request, so it never appears in a URL or a server log. The service returns matching parcel records and does not store or log the address.

Retention

Tool events are kept for 24 months and then deleted. We may keep aggregated statistics, which contain no session IDs, for longer.

Who processes data for us

  • Cloudflare hosts the site, runs the event and lookup services and provides page analytics.

We don't sell or share event data with advertisers.

Children

The site is meant for adult homeowners and is not directed at children under 13.
